Michiko Kakutani, one of the most feared, respected and fearless book critics of our times is leaving her high priestess perch as the New York Times Chief Book Critic. I am sure she will keep reviewing books from wherever she lands next. As I am sure many writers are breathing a sigh of relief at the news of her stepping down.
